Currently, I am a sophomore in high school and 15 years old. I attend The Open Door Church in Lafayette, LA, where I play bass on the worship team with many amazing people. I will be 16 as of June, and I plan to serve God as long as I live. God has shown me that in the worst cases, when it seems there is no light, Jesus is your lamp. I have full trust in Jesus, and I do not doubt that he is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
YWAM (Youth With A Mission) is an organization across the world established in 1960. They have many different programs that raise up the next generation to know God, and make Him known! YWAM is entirely non-profit, and volunteer driven. Everyone from leadership down to first time students raise financial support.
In the future, I hope to go to my first school, DTS. Discipleship Training School is a 20-week program that consists of a 12-week training and 8 weeks of outreach in another country.
YWAM has special opportunities for youth under 18: Ignite Youth Camps. This year, for three weeks (July 12 - August 2), I will go to Orlando, Florida. I will spend the first week learning about Jesus, and the next two weeks serving the Lord and the people of South Africa.
I feel that if I do this, I will get a better understanding of God and his word, but mostly how to be comfortable sharing His Word. In our broken world, some people have never heard about Jesus. It makes me sad because of all the good God has done for me, and I hope to share it with somebody else. A verse that spoke to me while researching missions was Romans 10:14. This is why we need to spread the word, even to the people who do not want to hear it or "waste their time." Because if we don't, who will? And then how will they know the Goodness of God?
"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" Romans 10:14
First and foremost, I would greatly appreciate your prayers. I will also need to raise funds towards plane tickets, passport costs, any out-of-pocket vaccines needed, and supplies I might need to buy in advance. My goal is to raise $4,500, but the next payment of $2,300 is due on July 1st in order for me to attend this program. Please prayerfully consider donating $50, $100, or whatever you feel led to contribute. Every gift is helpful and appreciated! Thank you so much!
You have no idea how much this all means to me. I am so grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you! -Lexi
